The first thing that you need to do to begin your grooming routine is to wash your beard. Just like we wash and take care of our hair, it is as important to do the same with our beards.
To keep your beard clean and soft, it is best to use beard wash or soap. Unlike regular shampoo's, these products are specifically designed to wash and condition beard follicles, leaving your beard soft and clean. However, just like hair on your head, we suggest using beard washing products 2-3 times per week. On other days just simply wash it with water only.
After you dry your beard, apply beard balm and oil. Not sure which one you need to use? Press here to find out more about these products and how they work.
If your beard needs taming and styling, use beard balm first. The advantage of the beard balm is that it tends to give you a little more volume and makes the beard look thicker. If you have a thin, patchy or misbehaving beard, you might want to consider using this product, because it will help you to tame it. Beard balm will also hydrate the skin, especially the pores and keep your beard as healthy as possible.
Instructions of use: Scrape out a pea-sized amount of the balm and smoothen it out onto your pointer fingers. While applying the product onto your beard, work it through from beneath then smooth it from the top and style it in whichever way you wish. If your beard is pretty long, you may want to use a little bit more than recommended.
Some men don't use beard balm daily or don't use it at all, but beard oil is a must! The biggest benefit of this product is that it can reach the skin beneath the beard and moisturize it. This is important, because it will prevent your skin from drying out. What you should also know about beard oil is that it promotes the hair growth and the new hair will be thicker and fuller.
Instructions of use: Pour 2-8 drops of beard oil into the palm of your hand and massage it into your beard working it through from beneath and then smoothening it down from the top. We recommend using 2-4 drops for a short beard, 4-6 for medium sized one, and 6-8 for a long beard.
If you have a big moustache and you would like to style it, then you might want to use moustache wax. It will not only tame your facial hair, but will also keep it healthy by moisturising your skin beneath.
Instructions of use: Scrape out a pea-sized amount of the wax and smoothen it out onto your pointer fingers. Simply apply it onto your moustache and style in whichever way you wish.
Combing your beard daily is not necessary, but if you want to give that final touch, to get that well-groomed look, combing will do the work.
It is important to comb from top to bottom and from side to the centre. This way, you are also taming and educating your hair to grow in the desired direction. Combing the beard gently instead of going too fast will give you the best results. Press here to read our guide on how to comb your beard correctly.
Now that you have completed your daily grooming routine, take a few moments to contemplate your manly magnificence before facing the world.
